I can't agree more. I am so grateful to Claire, the HMs, and this wonderful group for all that you have helped me accomplishin the past 2 years. With the conference coming up, I feel compelled to tell my story.
I got my CLNC in Oct 2011 but could not get my business going. I was clueless and as most of you know marketing is very limited in most programs. I attended a private apprenticeship in 2013, hoping I would learn to market. It didn't happen. I put my business on the backburner while I worked part time in a Cardiology practice. I periodically searched online for some type of legal nurse support group wondering if such a thing existed. In June 2014, I stumbled on the JERK website and did the dance of joy! The best part was Claire was right here in NC (30 min away). I ran downstairs and told my husband, "I want to be a JERK!" You can imagine his smart reply. I finally spoke with Claire in August. It turns out we had both worked at the same hospital here in Raleigh for over 20 yrs but had never met. I told Claire what I was looking for and she told me, "You need to come to our conference. You will love it." The same weekend as the conference, I had a big family gathering in Vermont (already had my plane ticket). I called Claire back and told her I would just have to sit in online with the group. Claire's response was, "That isn't the same. YOU NEED TO COME TO THE CONFERENCE, meet people face to face, network, make connections." I could not pass up the opportunity. It was the answer to my prayers. So I attended my first JERK conference in Oct 2014. It was the BEST thing I have ever done. I was alone but the HMs made me feel so welcome. I can honestly say I have never met so many warm and wonderful people. It was like a huge family reunion. The conference was amazing and I had a fantastic time. I met someone who actually became a new HM (Heritage Member) that weekend. As luck would have it, she became my mentor and was a marketing guru. I got my first case four months later. I did some subcontracting for another LNC contact from the conference and learned a lot about report writing. I am still rather new but at 2 yrs out (34 yrs of nursing), I have steady work and I am thrilled. So many JERKs have helped me along the way and I am so grateful to all of them. Newbies .... come to the conference, make those connections and get your business going. I'm so glad that I did. This is truly a gift from Claire, the HM’s and Conference Committee. Hope to see you there! Nora S. Kinney, RN, BSN, CLNC

This conference is an educational tool you will use to grow personally and professionally. Even if you think the topics or speakers may not fit into your business plan......think again!! I thought that at first too but man was I wrong. Every speaker added a different dimension to my business. After attending the conference, you may find that as you are reviewing a case, you discover topics that were discussed at the conference. Walla!! You will already have the knowledge of what was being discussed in the record because you heard about it at the conference. AND you will have the conference manual to refer back to for more information on the topic and who the expert was that did the presentation. I have referred several of the conference speakers to my attorneys as their expert witnesses. In developing friendships with the speakers, some have opened the door for me to call them if I had questions. If they didn’t know the answer, they were more than willing to assist me in finding an expert who would know the answer to the question I was asking.
I have used the information presented at the conference many times over and I want to let everyone know how every nugget of this information can affect their businesses, whether it’s now or in the future! Always look at the opportunities the conference provides as a method to improve upon and add to your business skills. Plus at the end of the day....you will have made new friends, future business partners, and added to your list of expert witnesses. I only speak the truth as to how my business structure evolved after attending my first JERK conference. KUDOs goes out to Claire and all the conference committee members and volunteers for providing this opportunity for growth and education. They are committed to making this the best conference FOR YOU! I look forward to meeting a lot of new faces this year!! Cheryl Gysegem, RNC-OB, BSN, BSPA/HCA, CLNC Marc Glickstein, MD, FACR, provided the audience with an incredible presentation on the use of Radiology for medical related cases. He demonstrated how the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" serves to provide concrete evidence to the lay juror for clarification and retention. Dr. Glickstein's powerful presentation confirmed the importance of utilizing a Radiologist to assist with demonstrative evidence and as Testifying Experts. Excellent choice!!
Cheryl G. The conference itself is chalk full of wonderful speakers and I always learn something new each and every time I go. This conference is laid-back, but very professional in its presentation and speakers. The conference committee members are always there to help you if you have questions or are a new participant. The friendly, family-like atmosphere of this conference is wonderful and the committee and the regular participants will make the new-comers feel right at home. There are fabulous giveaways, a silent auction, wonderful vendor booths and the fun you will have will be like none other!"
Lori Combs BS, RN, LNC Critical Analysis Consulting, LLC It was my first conference and to say it was spectacular is an understatement! The organizers were welcoming, the speakers were current and so very helpful and the hotel was fantastic. The conference was worth every penny I spent.
Sue, RN The Juris Educational Resource and Knowledge Conference (JERKCON) was very rewarding for me professionally. I brought back marketing ideas and strategies which helped increase my business by 30 percent. I learned tips for report writing and record keeping that increased my production by 10 percent. I met fellow Legal Nurse Consultants who now subcontract for my business; helping me build my bottom line. I can’t wait to join you in Raleigh, NC this October.
Catherine S Best conference ever! Chock full of vital information useful whether you are just starting out in business or if you are well established. Dynamic speakers present a wide variety of subjects. Best of all a very welcoming group of LNC's who take great pleasure in making attendees feel welcome!
